Katie Newell

Katie Newell, BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, Newry and Mourne.

Does your confidence sometimes fail to match your ability? You may be highly capable and successful, yet still struggle to recognise your own achievements or trust in your abilities. Perhaps you spend a lot of time overthinking, worrying about getting things wrong, trying to keep everyone happy or setting yourself impossibly high standards.

You may find yourself holding back, avoiding things that feel uncomfortable, comparing yourself to others or experiencing imposter syndrome, even when there’s plenty of evidence that you’re doing well.

Over time, these patterns can leave you feeling stuck, anxious and frustrated and can start to affect your work, relationships and enjoyment of life.

The good news is that the way you think about yourself isn’t fixed. With the right support, you can develop a more balanced and confident view of yourself.

My Experience

Hi, I'm Katie Newell, I’m a BABCP-accredited CBT therapist, with 15 years’ experience working in mental health services. I've been accredited as a CBT Therapist since 2018. My background includes working in NHS forensic services and CBT services, as well as private practice. I have a MSc in Applied Psychology, postgraduate diploma in CBT, and have completed EMDR Levels 1 and 2.

I work with a range of difficulties with anxiety and low mood including panic, OCD, social anxiety, excessive worry, health anxiety and PTSD. I particularly enjoy working with low self-esteem and the impact it can have on your confidence, relationships and career.

I especially love working with professionals who feel their confidence has been affected by their self-esteem. I can help you move away from constantly second-guessing yourself and towards feeling more secure, confident and comfortable in your own skin.

My approach is practical, collaborative and focused on helping you understand what is keeping you stuck, giving you the tools to make meaningful, lasting changes.

"It's not what you are that holds you back, it's what you think you're not" - Denis Waitley.

All of our therapists are accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), which ensures the highest standards of CBT practice, training and supervision.
